Events of importance are at Living in Black Mountain NC
My own life and my opinions are shared at When I was 69.

REMEMBER: In North America, the month of September 1752 was exceptionally short, skipping 11 days, when the Gregorian Calendar was adapted from the old Julian one, which didn't have leap year days.

Samuel Ufford Lt. 1670–1746

Samuel Ufford Lt.

1670–1746

Birth 21 JAN 1670 Milford, New Haven, Connecticut, United StatesDeath 30 DEC 1746 Stratford, Fairfield, Conn.

parent of Elizabeth Ufford Beers, grandfather of Elizabeth Beers Booth

Happy birthday Great times 8 Grandfather a few days ago, or perhaps on June 21, 1670, according to one source on Ancestry!

I spend half my life correcting silly things on Ancestry.  Like all these records that say CT was in the United States in 1670, or even 1746!  There was NO United States yet.  Wait until it formed after 1776.

Anyway, Grandpa Samuel married a lovely lady,
Elizabeth Curtis Ufford *
1677–1699
BIRTH 17 JAN 1677  Stratford, Fairfield, Connecticut, United StatesDEATH DEC 1699  Stratford, Fairfield, CT

Her parents were

Joseph Curtis

BIRTH 12 NOV 1650  Stratford, Fairfield, Connecticut, United StatesDEATH 1742  Stratford, Fairfield, Conn

and

Bethia Booth Curtis

BIRTH 18 AUG 1658  Stratford, Fairfield, Connecticut, United StatesDEATH 2 AUG 1699  Stratford, Fairfield, Conn.

I went back to Mrs. Ufford's parents because her mom had been a Booth.  Since their daughter's daughter married Zachariah Booth, one of the earliest of that name that I knew of, I was happy to find an even earlier link by 2 more generations.

According to another descendent who wrote up on "Find a Grave" details that were available...

"He was left a large portion of the estate of his uncle, Thomas Ufford, Jr. in 1683, was a Ensign in the 1st Company of Stratford in May, 1714, and a Lieut. in the South Company of Stratford in May, 1720. Although there was a Samuel Ufford who served in the Revolutionary War, this is not the one since he died before the war.

"He inherited a large portion of the estate of his uncle, Thomas Ufford, Jr., who died in 1683 without issue in Stratford.

"Administration of his estate was granted to his sons, Thomas & Joseph Ufford on Jan. 6, 1746/7. Daughters named in his will were Martha Hubbell, ELIZABETH BEERS (my ancestor), Eunice DeForest, Bethia Hawley, the heirs of Abigail BeachAnna Patterson, and Mary Hawley.

"Samuel & Elizabeth Ufford were the parents of 13 known children
