This photo of my son shows he still has a great sense of humor. Maybe from living with 4 females in his household for over 20 years. The photo behind his head is his oldest daughter, Audrey.

People are being rescued who have fallen from our many waterfalls these days. After Hurricane Helene changed the paths of many of our water courses, the falls and pools below them are much more dangerous. But the park service which looks after the grounds, paths, parking lots and restrooms are diligent and trying to keep things safe.
What about those who want a photo with the pretty scene in the background?
Did you notice this is a winter-time shot? The 70s and me
Changes all over the place..the 70s!
We moved to Florida in October of 1969 with our two sons. Would a geographic change solve our marital difficulties? (Shhh, you know the answer, but we didn't!)We start on the 12th, with Kendra, my daughter-in-law, wife of my youngest son Tai. She just turned... 47 years young.
On Aug. 16 my middle son was born, Russ Heym - he's going to be 57 years young.
Russ and myself at my apartment in St. Augustine, around 1997.
Oh, he's sporting a greying goatee, so let's update his portrait - with Michelle, his wife at a soccer game in 2023.
Then Barbara Baker, another daughter-in law (wife of my son Marty) will have her birthday on Aug. 22 bringing her to great 61 years young!
This universe is much too big to hold onto, but it is the perfect size for letting go. |

There are lots of photos of people in activities, but how many are there of people just taking it easy, or as my imagined relations would say, taking a load off...meaning off their feet of course.
Reposting from 2018
Here's a Home Blessing that I found...from when I last moved the place I lay my head every night. That was about 6 years ago.
And here's a bedroom photo of me! The guest room was between the upstairs back and front stairs, and Michelle used it as her office also.
Waiting for my flight home to FL...Russ and I enjoyed a few moments to say goodbye. I notice that pre-cell-phone-era I still wore a watch to tell time!
And here Russ and Michelle stand in the dining room, before her family's dining room furniture arrived, and they removed the wall with the door to the kitchen...as well as the wallpaper. I share this shot especially because it comes back to the floral wallpaper in the Sepia Saturday picture of the bedroom! They actually painted the walls tomato red and they looked great with the Mediterranean furniture.
Michelle's mom has just sold her house in Connecticut, and Michelle and Russ brought a U-Haul truck of furniture to their current home...in Ohio!
I will be sharing whatever I see from my other son who is purchasing his first home...soon I hope. They are working on various purchasing procedures now.
Having invited them...they showed up!
I start my morning meditations with imagining myself in a secluded place (as many meditation leaders suggest for a beginning.)
This was a new place...maybe because I have another hour...daylight savings time is finally over! So at 7:30 am the sun was just lightening the sky..and I was ready to start the day.
Part of how I manage to have this time to meditate is having already poured myself a nice hot cup of coffee, which sits under a tiny saucer to keep it warm on my bedside table. And yes, I allow myself a few sips before I settle under the covers sitting at the head of my bed.
Today I took myself to a clearing in a woods...where I saw a circle of stumps with a fire pit in the middle. I imagined someone bringing wood to the fire pit and starting a fire. It was very welcoming, and helped me center myself.
Then I looked at each of the tree stumps in the circle...and each held the spirit of one of my ancestors. I slowly looked at Spritiualist William Booth, and his daughter-in-law Eugenia Booth Miller with her husband Charlie by her. I saw her daughter, Mozelle, and my grandfather who I never knew...and then my mother and father. Next to them was my sister and her son. Then my other grandmother Ada, and her sons, my uncles Rogers. And then her father and mother Swasey. And finally the two who have recently passed this week, Millie and Ronni (a blogging friend.) Behind me stood my imagined own three sons and their children who I've given the same blood to.
I thanked all these spirits for sharing their DNA, and the lives they led with adventures galore. And I wished them all well as they continue to have presence wherever they might be. I asked them if they had any messages for me (of course! what's contacting spirits if you don't ask that question?)
I won't tell you the answers however, as they are private and for myself only.
I then got up and danced a bit around the imaginary fire...so glad I could still move and listen to music and dance. Having this body is certainly a gift, and my sense of appreciation woke me to the being of here and now.
As I sipped my coffee, I patted my head and face, which somehow helps me come back to today. I will continue celebrating the lives of ancestors. And I will work on this life in ways that I need to.
Happy All Souls Day (or All Saints Day)
